‘Kings Of The New Age’ is the new album from State Champs. State Champs have released a new music video for “Act Like That” to go along with the album.
With their brand new 4th studio album, Kings Of The New Age, released now on Pure Noise Records, New York powerhouses State Champs are cementing their place in pop-punk history. The album features the previously released hits “Eventually,” “Everybody But You” (with Ben Barlow), “Outta My Head,” and “Just Sound,” as well as seven new songs featuring Chrissy Costanza, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Four Year Strong.
The band comments on the much anticipated release, “Kings of the New Age is our fourth studio album, the one on which we spent the most time and which makes the most impact. We reduced it down to 11 tracks that best represent our vision as a band and sonically fit the energy level we wanted to captivate entering into this new chapter after writing over 30 songs.”
The band offers their thoughts on the much anticipated release, “Our fourth studio album, Kings of the New Age, is the one on which we spent the most time and had the most impact. After creating over 30 songs, we narrowed it down to 11 tracks that best represent our vision as a band and sonically fit the energy level we wanted to capture as we began this new phase.”
State Champs have released a new music video for “Act Like That,” which features Mitchell Tenpenny, to go along with the album. The new music video captures the track’s cheerful, lighthearted mood, complete with backyard sports, motorcycle antics, and a little friendly competitiveness.
“‘Act Like That’ is the most ‘out of the box’ song for us on the album,” shares vocalist Derek DiScanio. “We had a lot of fun experimenting with some poppier elements, but it was challenging at first to bring the right level of SC energy to level it out. We hit a moment in the studio when we definitely found that balance, and we’re very excited to share this dance-y, rockin’, lyrically dynamic love song that makes you wanna jump around.”
“Definitely one of the most bizarre videos I’ve ever seen!! I grew up listening to and performing this genre of music “Mitchell Tenpenny says. “I’ve been a fan of State Champs for a while, so hearing the song was a no-brainer! I’m a huge fan of rock music!”
In search of a more “mature” sound, a beloved rock band frequently jumps gears on album four, infuriating longtime fans. With Kings Of The New Age, State Champs raise a joyful middle finger to that cliché, an exuberant and confident reminder of what Upstate New Yorkers do best.
In 2013, Kerrang! awarded the band’s debut album, The Finer Things, a rare 5K rating. Cover pieces in Rock Sound and Alternative Press were praised. Around the World and Back debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Current Rock Albums list and was included in Rock Sound’s 2015 Top 10 Albums. In 2018, Living Proof was released. In the same year, Billboard dubbed them “modern-day pop-punk torchbearers.” They are a stadium-ready rock band with the soul of punk. State Champs have the year 2022.
