Remon Nakanishi, the Ipoh-born singer-songwriter now based in the UK, reimagines a community classic with โKuroishi Yosare,โ released March 20, 2026. This third single after โKawasakiโ is part of a five-month run on DOYASA! Records, produced by Agatha and engineered by Kohsuke Nakamura, and it pulls a traditional Bon Odori melody from Kuroishi City into a brave, cross-cultural studio setting with contributions from Junzo Tateiwa (percussion), Masanori Hattori (contrabass), Mizuki Takeuchi (violin/viola), Asaka Igarashi (cello) and backing harmonies from Suzumeno Tears.
The track opens on crisp North Africanโstyle percussion, with Gnawa-like tapping coming off tactile and alive, before a dry, desert-tinged guitar and a warm double bass lock the groove. Remonโs voice enters vibrant and quivering, his vibrato answering the communal call of โEcha-ho, echa-ho,โ and just when you settle in the beat shifts, rumbling, blizzard-like strings sweep through and Agathaโs arrangement flashes a Beatles-esque cinematic color while staying planted in minโyลโs earthiness.
Production-wise, itโs a neat tightrope walk, as raw vocal grit sits shoulder-to-shoulder with Suzumeno Tearsโ choral washes, whose harmonies give the song cathedral-sized depth that flirts with prog-choir textures. Kohsuke Nakamuraโs engineering keeps the percussion snapping, the contrabass breathing, and the strings shimmering so the folk melody never drowns in studio sheen.
All told, โKuroishi Yosareโ is a respectful reboot that honors ritual while inviting global sonic travelers into the circle. Put it on to feel communal heat in your headphones or to watch a ritual get a modern heartbeat that smolders and then surprises like a festival fire. Check out the lyric video on YouTube.
