Emma Forgette, an Ocala-born country singer, stakes a claim with the swaggering single, “Barfly Barbie,” released March 13, 2026 on Bad Jeu Jeu/CDX/The Orchard. Written by Christine Marie Cecrle and Charlie Allen and produced by Jeff Huskins, the three-minute, sixteen-second track was cut at Nashville’s BMG Studio A and races at a brisk 148 BPM.
Right out of the gate the song eases in on glistening guitars and a skitter of percussion, with a deceptively soft lead before the punches land. Forgette’s voice arrives low and weathered, a tender country lilt that carries hurt and edges it with steel. She sings about how she was invited to a party then mocked, so she reasserts her ground, singing, “I am not your barfly barbie, you can’t control me.” You can hear the somberness in her tone as she sings these words, as if it’s coming from a hurt place and she’s saddened by having to say these things.
Mid-song, the arrangement tightens, as a bending guitar bends toward blues, while sharp, shrill strings snake across the mix, and drums rumble underfoot to widen the emotional landscape. The bridge is cinematic, as the tension builds, then Forgette lets the vocals ride the storm, turning personal grievance into cathartic, sing-along defiance.
“Barfly Barbie” is a compact, jukebox-ready anthem, that’s punchy at 148 BPM, radio-friendly, and textured enough to reward repeat listens. With Huskins’ polished production and Forgette’s front-and-center delivery, the single feels like a breakthrough moment, with small-town sting, big-city clarity, and a refusal to be anyone’s trophy. Also, having toured festival stages and caught industry attention, Forgette wears her heart on her sleeve and sounds downright unstoppable. She’s a rising force to watch. for sure.
