IamSnap turns an intensely personal struggle into a knockout on “Last Round,” a hip-hop single featuring Lydia Caesar that confronts depression, anxiety and the exhausting battle of trying to keep moving when your own mind seems determined to pull you back. Following his 2025 release “Larger Than Life,” the Australian artist Shannon Elliott takes a darker subject and, rather than dressing it up, meets it head-on with frustration, humour and stubborn resilience.
The song eases in with warm instrumentation and welcoming horns, creating an unexpectedly comforting introduction before the heavyweight rhythm kicks through the door. The contrast works a treat: beneath that warmth is a sense of tension waiting to explode. IamSnap enters with a deep, steady, thick voice, rapping coolly and confidently while unloading his frustrations. His delivery stays locked to the beat, never sounding hurried even as the subject matter touches on procrastination, self-doubt and creative paralysis.
What gives “Last Round” its real lift, though, is Lydia Caesar. When her vocals arrive, the track suddenly opens up. Her rich, gorgeous voice soars and belts with palpable passion, providing the emotional counterweight to IamSnap’s grounded verses. Her chorus feels like the moment the clouds finally crack open, transforming what could have remained a private confession into something much bigger: an anthem about refusing to stay down.
There is also a clever central image running through the song, with anxiety portrayed almost like a devil that keeps coming back for another fight. IamSnap embraces the struggle itself as fuel. Every round becomes another opportunity to stand back up.
Produced by Gore Ocean and IamSnap, with music composed by Faby Beats and Gore Ocean, the production gives both performers room to make their mark. The atmospheric textures and weighty hip-hop foundation mirror the song’s emotional swings beautifully.
“Last Round” ultimately isn’t about winning once and for all. It is about getting back into the ring. And sometimes, that is the victory.
