Kesurapan powerfully debuts their studio EP, “Lifeless Shells,” on Sept 29. Taking listeners on an emotional rollercoaster through a dark and brooding musical landscape, we have Dom on vocals, Matze on guitar, Ade on bass, and Fabi on drums.
The EP immediately sets the tone with mature and emotional songs. The EP immerses you in a world of clashing drums, revving distortion, and gnarly guitars that continually implode, creating an intense and gripping atmosphere.
Dom’s gritty and thick voice is a force to be reckoned with. He delivers vehement and expressive singing that seethes with emotion. From powerful screams into the unknown to a mighty vocal range that spans the spectrum, Dom’s vocals are a driving force behind the EP’s emotional impact.
The first track, “Falling Faster,” explores themes of close bonds, grief, and loss. The despondent, shrill cries and a pervasive sense of unbearable melancholy hang in the air, making it a poignant and heart-wrenching opener. “Lifeless Shells,” the second track, delves into the themes of trauma-induced continual isolation and apathy. The song rages with thoughts provoked, driven by an intimidating furor that demands attention.
The third track, “Oblivion,” tackles the topic of the glorification of idols and celebrities, only to “cancel” them as soon as they slip. The guitar-led instrumental evokes a picture of dark, shady alleys serpentile in shape, trying to tell us how messed up the reality is. But it’s glamorized with sheen and glimmer, or so that fame brings to the table for the price you pay with your life.
“Lifeless Shells” by Kesurapan is an EP that doesn’t shy away from exploring deep and sometimes uncomfortable themes. For fans of alternative metal and metal music, this EP is a must-listen.
