The song, “InSanity (Radio Edit),” by Ginger Linger will hit you like a fresh lemonade with its fresh vibes and clean translucent soundscape. It comes across like a clear breeze on a sunny summer day that will get you head bopping, swaying, and tapping some cool dance moves at the same time. Listeners might get an idea of the music from Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man, MF DOOM, and Kendrick Lamar, that inspired our artist here.
The singer’s charismatic, youthful voice will get you vibing along because it matches the freshness of the guitars and the snappy, catchy, and light beats. But what really gets your attention is the way they sing. It’s kind of like a merging of rap and singing, because they tack up quite a few strong, tongue-twisting terms and words in their lines that really stick out. But the soothing rhythm that eases up on you alongside Ginger Linger syncing up with the rhythm is what gets you flowing.
What’s so interesting about “InSanity (Radio Edit)” is that these words start with “I.” For example, in one line, they go, “Iceberg—it’s icky, icy, idealistic./Identity imitates illegible intentions intimidating ideals and identicality…” And it goes on.
The song’s actually intriguing because at one point, it seems the artist is trying to express something about this world and possibly the rise of identity crisis amongst the youth, in the face of too much information, just like the structure of their song, which is quite short but is very telling, under three minutes. They refer to social media apps like “Instagram,” which relates to the trending terms like “Immigration” and “isolation,” which says a lot about the things that are affecting the world as of now. As for his state of mind, the line, “I’m impatiently impassionate,” is understandable, given what has been happening to young people in today’s circumstances.
Regardless of all the ruminating over what Ginger Linger is trying to tell us, one thing’s for sure—it’s deep. “InSanity (Radio Edit)” is light and refreshing, but also deep. Their singing style, their art style, and the structure of the song are all so unlike your usual pop music.
“InSanity (Radio Edit)” is definitely worth giving a shot.
