Irish singer Chelle is back with an irresistible guitar-led groove in her contagious synth-pop single, “Ain’t Lovin’ You,” after her debut “Kiss Me Again” hit the charts with “pop-reggae fusion” and enjoyed favorable reviews from critics, following its remix. The Gwen Stefani- and Blondie-likened singer-songwriter from Dublin, Ireland, brings pop hooks, a catchy groove, and her sensational, luscious voice, dripping with honey and defiance, in her latest release. Nevertheless, Chelle, with her growing brand identity, seems to defy the Irish coast musical style and embrace the world as she goes.
“Ain’t Lovin’ You” opens with the singer humming amidst catchy, rugged riffs pulling their chords to put up an infectiously beachy, fresh groove. Chelle’s thick, juicy voice comes low, and she sings softly, reflecting on being told to leave someone but unable to, as of yet. You can just tell that her voice is so strong that even her low-range vocals tend to come so thick to our ears. Beside her voice is the catchy guitar and the snap of a finger.
Then comes the chorus, “You ain’t loving me, I ain’t loving you/The line so fine/You ain’t loving me, I ain’t loving you, no not this time/You ain’t loving me, I ain’t loving you, I drew the line.” The lines click in your head instantly and are memorable enough to get you singing them in your head.
After that, it only gets more hooky with the beats now dropping with the groove and the lines snapping off in sync with the rhythm. What’s so good about the song is that with the sass comes the soul and the sensations of her voice that melt like vanilla over the defiance, making the whole ordeal really succulent and well-balanced. It’s perfectly pop.
Other than what you have heard so far, if you are also into Motown influences but also like the modern allure of synth-pop, you are gonna love Chelle. So check out the budding artist and her newest single, “Ain’t Lovin’ You,” on Spotify.
