After a three-year absence and a brush with mortality that would make most people retreat into quiet reflection, Lewca returns with “Like Liam Gallagher,” and thankfully chooses chaos instead. Serving as the first taste of his upcoming album Innit?, the single arrives as a pint spilled over a dancefloor at closing time.
Lewca has always occupied a strange but entertaining corner where punk attitude, rap storytelling, pop hooks, and reggae-infused grooves collide. “Like Liam Gallagher” doubles down on that formula, embracing debauchery with a grin and absolutely no intention of apologizing for it. The gloriously scruffy anthem feels tailor-made for sticky-floored pubs, festival tents, and anyone who has ever convinced themselves that one more drink is definitely a good idea.
The track wastes no time getting the party started. Punchy, playful instrumentation bursts through the speakers with an almost cartoonish swagger before Lewca storms in with a vocal performance packed with personality. His verses are particularly entertaining, delivered in a robotic, list-like cadence as he rattles through the monotony of weekdays before fixating on the weekend’s promise of freedom and excess. The contrast between those deadpan passages and the explosive choruses is where the song really earns its stripes.
When the chorus hits, Lewca throws caution to the wind. He hollers, soars, and barrels forward with infectious enthusiasm, turning what could have been a novelty track into something genuinely memorable. Beneath the humour lies an undercurrent of survival and defiance. Considering the artist’s recent near-death experience, the song’s reckless celebration of being alive carries a little more weight than it first appears.
Musically, “Like Liam Gallagher” thrives on its rough-around-the-edges charm. The production, led alongside long-time collaborator S.O.A.P., balances fuzzy pop melodies, alternative punk energy, and tongue-in-cheek wit without losing momentum.
Ultimately, “Like Liam Gallagher” is a rowdy, self-aware comeback that proves Lewca hasn’t lost his sense of humour—or his knack for writing irresistibly chaotic singalongs. Sometimes the best way to stare down mortality is to crank the volume and raise another glass.
