Lionee drops entrancing new song ‘I Know You Still Taste Me’
The musician Lionee and his producer Kelly announce their return with a brand new and special love single called ‘I Know You Still Taste Me’ after more than a year of not releasing any music in order to hone their craft and make sure their output is as pure as possible. ‘I Know You Still Taste Me’ reinvents a particular song from a time when music was intended to leave an everlasting taste in your mouth without being a direct remix.
You wouldn’t have known the source of this exotic and ethereal instrumental, Michael Jackson’s legendary album ‘Liberian Girl’, if you weren’t familiar with the music of the late and great King of Pop, yes, we’re talking about him.
While the instrumentation stays true to the original, Kelly’s mixing attempts to update and modernize the classic instrumental without losing its classic appeal.
At the end of the first verse, Lionee can be heard saying, “You changed me girl, yeah you changed my world girl,” a reference to Michael’s “you came and you changed my world (…) you came and you changed me girl,” just like Michael did in the original. Lionee continues to talk about a long-distance relationship and how the entry of a foreign girl into his life changed his ways and how he views things. Here, he appears to be inviting her to live with him in Paris and never leave again, but after receiving a mixed reaction, he is still convinced that she feels the same way.
