Mark Wise released smashing new song ‘The Fire Within’
The brand-new single from Mark Wise, ‘The Fire Within’, represents the development of his heavy metal techno sound. The project’s producer was aware that the next phase would require live guitars and vocals. In the past, many musicians have combined rock and EDM, frequently enhancing one genre with elements of the other. Mark Wise elevates the idea on ‘The Fire Within’ and, in the process, invents an entirely new genre.
The producer creates a hard techno banger with featured guitarist Gabriel Borza and vocalist Wazzmo that is fueled by classic metal and thrash from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. “A techno skeleton encased in heavy metal flesh,” is how he describes the song. With low end filtering to indicate breaks and transitions, the track follows a techno structure of intro, breakdown, “drop,” breakdown, drop, and outro. The song almost continuously features a drone sound, layered hi-hat loops, and a techno low end kick and rumble combination.
Wise combines the verse/chorus/bridge structure of a rock & roll song with this traditional techno foundation of breaks and bass drops. A synth bass, live, double-tracked guitars, and vocals blend with programmed drums to create a hybrid sound that has a hard rock beat. Nothing was sampled. The three musicians on the track collaborated to create all of the song’s sounds.
