With debut single, Voices to Echo, trackmaker Keita Kobayashi steps into a bold new role as vocalist under his solo project SEDAN. Known for his work in Ross Moody and the project Charlie (with RIP SLYMEโs PES), Kobayashi flexes his multifaceted artistry here, handling everything from composition, instrumentation, lyrics, and even mixing and mastering. The track was born from his โSinging Diaryโ series, where fleeting thoughts and daily emotions are captured as lyrical fragments. What emerges in Voices to Echo is a raw, introspective reflection on personal change, particularly the anxious thrill of putting his voice at the forefront for the first time.
Musically, the track fuses dance music sensibilities with alternative rock textures. Thumping beats pulse like a heartbeat, met with vibrant synth lines, ticking rhythms, and glimmers of guitar that chime and shimmer. Occasional hand claps add a human touch to the programmed depth. The result is a textured, grounded and atmospheric soundscape that keeps you attended.
Kobayashiโs vocal performance is striking: his voice carries an emotive weight, at times transparent and vulnerable, at others soaring and determined.
Lyrically, the song circles around the recurring question: โCan you hear our voices?โ Echoed throughout in Japanese, this line becomes a thematic heartbeat, an invocation of connection, resonance, and solidarity. Watch the lyric video of Voices to Echo on YouTube.
