Two Sevens’ latest single, “Listen to Love,” is a radiant slice of electro-pop that balances sunny grooves with serious soul. Released just in time for summer, the track is drenched in glimmering synths and irresistible rhythms, but grounded in profundity after It sounds like freedom, but it sings about unity, empathy, and social change.
From the very first seconds, the drum groove hits hard and fast, pulling you into its kinetic orbit. Above it, shimmering synths glitter like sun reflecting off water, evoking a nostalgic nod to 80s and 90s pop while still feeling refreshingly current. Then comes Mimi’s rich, velvety, and emotionally charged voice, delivering each lyric with conviction and vulnerability. Her vocals rise and swell with heart, urging us to feel the message.
“Won’t you listen to love?” becomes both a plea and a mantra for peace and love amidst all nations, regions and races, repeated like an incantation over swelling chords and layered textures. The lyrics move from personal longing to global consciousness, tackling subjects like fear of the other, nationalism, and the refugee crisis. It’s protest wrapped in a party—pop with a purpose.
Apart from its message, “Listen to Love” has come with an internal evolution amidst the band members, as original members Matthew and Paul are joined by Finnish singer-songwriter Mimi. Matthew’s experience as a former EMI artist shines in the composition, while Paul’s intricate production brings the whole thing to life. But Mimi’s vocals are the soul of the track, giving Listen to Love emotional gravity that makes its message hit harder.
It’s the sound of connection that will make you want to listen to love. Check it out on Spotify.
