Lost & Found by Paul Claxton is akin to a forgotten love letter tucked away in an old coat pocket. It’s unexpected, delicate, and packed with aching emotion. Released on April 12, 2025, this new single from the Liverpool-born troubadour hits you not with bombast, but with the soft persistence of heartbreak riveting in time. The song opens with a rustling hush of vibrant guitar strums, and Claxton’s breathy, gentle vocals float in like mist over a quiet dawn.
When he opens the song with “you could find me in the lost and found / close to the ground,” it pours soul-soaked vulnerability right from the beginning. His high and haunting voice carries the weariness of love lost and the bruised hope of being remembered. There’s vibrato in every intentional, tender note like the tremble in someone’s voice trying not to cry.
Claxton weaves a nostalgic, vintage and vividly alive soundscape, channelling the ghosts of Orbison and Dusty, with a nod to Lennon’s poetic flair. There’s a touch of Americana, a swish of Motown soul, and a whole lot of heart packed into three or so minutes. His wall-of-sound influences peek through without overwhelming the intimacy—think warm acoustic layers, gliding harmonies, and just enough retro polish to make your heart ache for the sixties.
“Lost & Found” lets the silence between strums and the sincerity in Claxton’s tone do the talking. This track proves once again that Paul Claxton is a master of the slow burn, and if you listen close enough, you’ll find yourself right there with him—in the lost and found.
