Lucid in the Fall by Plastic Barricades: Review
London-based Indie band Plastic Barricades gives their listeners an intimate glimpse into their upcoming album “We Stayed Indoors” with the latest double single release Lucid in the Fall.
Plastic Barricade is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Dan Kert. Dan wrote these songs during the pandemic when everyone was being forced to stay indoors and in an attempt to escape their boredom everyone resorted to endless consumerism and instant gratification. We were aware of the repercussions, but we couldn’t help it. Plastic Barricades put this beautifully in Lucid in the Fall with beautifully poetic lyrics, a steady beat, bright guitars, and a catchy hook.
Tallest Trees, the second song is in somber contrast with Lucid in the Fall. It uses the symbolism of the “tallest trees” to portray how we’re destroying the planet, yet it seems to be forgiving. The band dials back the tempo a bit to suit the mood. The reverberating guitars accompany Dan’s somber, sincere croons. This song doesn’t have a catchy hook and it doesn’t need one to keep you listening. The steady beat and the melancholic guitars combined with Dan’s vocals have this captivating quality that is even more amplified by the addition of the brass instruments.
The songs are great in and of themselves, the band has also released accompanying AI-generated music videos. The videos are as trippy as AI can get with its interpretation of the songs. Feel free to check out both!
