MASS EXPERIENCE LIVE UP TO THEIR NAME WITH NOSTALGIC SOUNDING LP, “PLEASURE AND PURGE”. Mass Experience, a Sydney, Australia-based duo, has released a new must-listen album that pays homage to the vocal house/electronic foundations of the 1990s.
Universal Music Group, InGrooves, and WorldSound have signed Mass Experience to a multi-album deal. “Pleasure And Purge” is Mass Experience’s synth-infused love language and story of two lifelong club comrades resolving their differences. Mass Experience was born out of a desire to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds by combining early 90’s rave, indie-electronica, and 60’s influenced psychedelia. Katie M. Little and Timothy Poulton, co-producers, take their love language to new heights in the world of minimal house and electronic percussive soundscapes. They use an engaging tale line to emphasize the necessity of great melodic components throughout their upcoming nine-track LP.
Mass Experience’s second album, ‘Pleasure And Purge,’ is out now. The follow-up to ‘Sitting with Demons’ was about being unable to escape unpleasant events or sensations, however this new album is about learning how to heal yourself and remembering how to feel joy. This is evident from Katie’s use of upbeat language throughout the album.
“I basically had a nervous breakdown after both my parents died and had to figure out how to put the pieces of myself back together. I lost all my confidence, inspiration, and faith in my intuition which has always been my compass in life,” Katie says. ‘Pleasure And Purge’ is my journey through what I call the “awfulness”, rebelling against shame, rediscovering beauty and my playful nature.”
‘Mother,’ ‘Take Me Away,’ ‘Pleasure And Purge,’ and ‘Rise Up,’ the first released single,’ allow love to pour in and force self-deprecation to take a back seat. Bright synths, positive vocal messages, and glitchy-rawness caress listeners: these are some of the basic characteristics of sound that are part of Mass Experience’s shared imagination.
The project’s halfway point, ‘Visions,’ marks a strong connection to the broader source. The narrative woven throughout this record will appeal to both DJs and producers, as the sixth track, ‘Born Trippin,’ is a dramatic twist in the scenario. Life’s chaotic components are recalled, and the main narrator is swept away by its struggle. It’s both a source of pain and a source of beauty.
‘’The one thing that’s gotten me through the hardest moments of my life has been honesty. As dark as the purge of awfulness was, I stuck to the philosophy that all I could be was honest. I only took on creative work where I felt safe…whenever I release new music something amazing happens in my life, so I’m very excited to release this album ‘Pleasure And Purge’ because it has some beautiful healing tracks on it, particularly the final track ‘The Sun’ which I wrote about my best friend and my husband, without whom I could never have found my way through,’’ Katie says.
Mass Experience has a clear sense of purpose and passion that fuels their internal fire. Even for new listeners, the music is not only superb, but also nostalgic and familiar. Mass Experience is ecstatic to reintroduce this fresh sound and intensity to dance floors and digital streaming platforms all around the world.
