Nikolay Cranner Releases Outstanding Record “Times EP”
Norwegian producer, composer, DJ, engineer, and saxophonist Nikolay Cranner fuses House music with a jazz outfit. Two gorgeous tracks featuring intricate dance harmonies and jazzy rhythms make up the Times EP, which dropped on May 5. The songs “Times” and “Sunshine Living” have given us are set to become summer mainstays.
“Times” Featuring. Joey Law draws attention to problems that affect us all on an individual and societal level. Sad things happen in life too. We’re all going to have to deal with some rough times. No one is immune to these challenges and difficulties. Nikolay wrote this song for those who keep going even if it’s hard and for those who realize the value of community when facing adversity. He points out that this is simple during the good times but more difficult during the bad. The tune is full of lush harmonies, culminating in a drop that will leave you wanting more. “Times” is a benchmark for exciting electronic dance music.
The other track on the new EP, “Sunshine Living” is a perfect example of a summertime jam that will have you ready to get your groove on. But in typical Cranner fashion, he surprises us in a major way. In an innovative twist, he replaces portions of his verses with the saxophone, rather than a solo, to highlight the instrument. With the addition of Kieran Fowkes’ distinctive vocals, Nikolay has achieved the ideal equilibrium for breezy, upbeat summer dance music.
