Non è sempre stato così by Giondamix: Review
“Non e sempre stato cosi” is an Italian acoustic-rock tune that captures the experience of suffering one’s first panic attack. Thanks to Giondamix’s impassioned delivery, despite a difference in language, it evokes powerful mental health crisis imagery.
The song begins with a solitary, stagnant note followed by a lushly recorded acoustic riff. The voice and acoustic beat take you into a reflective environment, raising your heart rate and bringing on a surge of fear as the chorus builds. The opening chords and lyrics mishmash excellently and hint at an impending tragedy, grasping you with an anxious feeling in its tune. Almost like the anxious seconds right before an attack with its intricate layering. However, it is occasionally subdued in the background while the chorus returns with an even more jostling force.
Those strained tones nibble at your head and threaten to take over again as the music goes, creating a developing feeling. The music, with its jumble of conflicting feelings, captures the first few minutes of a panic attack well. While building into a climax, the chorus gains center stage and then seemingly soars above the main melody’s tangled emotions. To put it another way: it’s like a beam of optimism shining through the clouds. Giondamix’s “Non e sempre stato cosi” adds to an incredible listening experience that immerses you in an unexplainable array of feelings before leaving you with a peculiar sense of heightened awareness.
