Nostalgia feat. Wulfie by LOVETA: Review
LOVETA’s Nostalgia is an artistic new release that won’t unstick from my mind for the way it sounds, featuring the noir film-like vocals of LOVETA.
A true soul and R&B fan at heart, this EP offers a refreshing change of pace from the artist’s previous high-octane pop singles. I think it’s the combination of R&B infusion within the rocky grits of the song that gets me, not to mention the mellow yet powerful vocals that don’t shy away from giving us soaring high belts that need no falsetto, intricate details wherever necessary keeping it crisp. At the forefront of the lyrics, it’s refreshing to hear the artist reflect on being present at the moment, enjoying it all. She does touch on the good and the bad, but only to move past the negative feelings to find peace in the present. To end the song with expertise, the breakbeat, and the driving basslines finish up on cue, which seems to me as a painstakingly done well production from passionate musicians all around.
The sentimental tone of Nostalgia reveals a never-before-seen dimension of LOVETA. Going with the accolades of the tune and performance, the visualizer of “Nostalgia” is an interesting one where LOVETA is seen being free as a bird, giving it her all as her instrumentalists join her in a jam session, having quite the time of their own, but in a cinematic style that is thoroughly enjoyable.
