Numb by Shady Oaks: Review
Shady Oaks tells the story of a relationship that has grown numb over time in a true blues-rock fashion in their new song Numb.
Written by the band’s singer and lead guitarist Ty Gallaway, the song narrates a story of a relationship where one person has grown numb and the other feels alone even in each other’s company. The male-female duet vocals give this story of conflict the perfect point of view and dramatic flair. The song starts with a groovy bass that paves the way for the mean guitar riff and hard-hitting drums crashing down in a true rock and roll jive. Ty Gallaway starts with his part and is followed by Loren Dorland for the female part of the vocals.
They meticulously articulated the song’s narrative in their highly energetic vocal performances. As the song keeps building up with each measure and gets heavier and heavier, they effortlessly keep up with the rest of the band’s energy. The Song gets demonically loud as Loren’s soaring vocals reach her last chorus and Ty follows that up with a mean crunchy guitar solo complimented by loud crashing drums and the thickest bass to end the song. Overall, this is a song that I won’t be surprised if someone brings it up talking about the classics of blues-rock ten years down the line.
Quotable Lyrics:
“Take my heart,
Cause you know I don’t need it anyway
Feel for Me
Cause I can’t seem to find a way”
“I’m so alone
Even when you are at home with me
I’m so alone, even in a crowd it’s still just me”
