Old School by Studio D’Lux: Review
The latest single ‘Old School’ from Studio D’Lux is a classic 80s glam rock style ode to change featuring rock veterans like Jon Herington, Glen Burtnik, and Liberty Devitto.
The song revolves around the theme of adapting and welcoming change to bring positive changes in life. Life is all about changes and if you don’t keep up with the time, you get left behind. The song directly inspires one to reflect on themselves to identify and bring upon the changes necessary to live a better life than being stuck in one place.
This positive inspiring message is conveyed in a classic piano-driven rock tune by the rock veterans gathered by Doug Kistner. The song features former Styx singer Glen Burtnik on vocals, prolific session guitarist and Steely Dan touring member Jon Herington on guitars, and former Billy Joel Band drummer Liberty Devito. This star-studded crew takes the listeners back to a time of tight skinny jeans and hair sprays and delivers an excellent performance of the song as one would expect. The piano gives the song a country-rock vibe backed by Jon’s amazing guitars. The vocal arrangement of the song sounded perfect in Glen’s voice. Singing about bringing in change the song spices things up towards the end with the addition of brass instruments which gives it a nice Ska feel and was refreshing to hear.
