On Rob and Jack Lahana’s “Haute Saison,” Natalie Portman directs her first music video.
Rob and Jack Lahana, which consists of producer and composer Rob and Grammy Award-winning engineer Jack Lahana, have collaborated on a number of songs for the upcoming Summercamp album, including the first single “Haute Saison,” which features Gordon Tracks and Giorgio Poi on vocals and a video directed by Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman.
The video stars Quannah Chasinghorse and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and follows two strangers on a crowded beach who eventually meet in a dance circle. Portman, who directed her first feature film, A Tale of Love and Darkness, in 2015, has also directed a number of short films, including Eve and New York, I Love You. Portman makes her directorial debut in “Haute Saison.”
When Rob was recording his debut, Don’t Kill, in 2000, they met and worked with Jack, the in-house sound engineer. From Rob’s second album, Satyred Love, released in 2002, to their current collaboration, Summercamp, which features a diverse group of artists from around the world, the two have continued to collaborate. Summercamp, which was recorded in the duo’s Paris studio on avenue d’Enghien, blends visual and musical elements around universal themes.
“A cover of ‘Playground Love’ had already rejoined us in the studio almost 20 years ago,” Rob stated of the cooperation behind “Haute Saison.”
“Years later, we shared the stage all over the world, often with Giorgio, the most cool of modern Italian vocalists,” he continued. Finding them in the studio as a duo is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
