On their euphoric new track If You Need It, Starbenders honor the dignity of pain. If Youโre in Need Kimi Shelter of the Starbenders describes it as โa metallic collision between feathers and switchblades.โ
If You Need It, a new single from Atlantaโs glam-goth-punk underground Starbenders, is out now. Itโs the bandโs first single since Februaryโs Seven White Horses single.
Kimi Shelter, lead Starbender, states, โThe band recorded If You Need It during a really terrible moment in our lives.โ โAs we stood in the studio, the sands beneath our feet were changing. The chorus of the song encapsulates the spirit of the song: โIโve got love if you need it, drugs to keep it even.โ โI canโt handle it any longer.โ
โItโs hard to change people, but that doesnโt mean we didnโt love or help them enough. Pain is a dignity that we must transmute on our own. As a result, feathers and switchblades collide in a metallic clash.โ
If You Need It finds the Starbenders in fine form, with haunting, quiet verses smashing into an exultant chorus.
Hannah Gray Hall, who previously directed the video for Seven White Horses, directed the video, which portrays the band performing live in what appears to be an abandoned warehouse with a group of masked partygoers drinking a blood-based punch. In any case, itโll be an exciting night out.
