After the foot-tapping success of their debut โBad Man,โ which turned heads with over 12,000 Spotify spins in its first month, Penny Rebels hit the gas pedal with this unapologetically bold follow-up. Dropping August 8th, โOpen Roadโ owns the highway they roll through.
From the very first riff, the track grabs you by the collar with a gritty, fuzzy guitar hook that instantly feels like a shot of espresso to the veins. The drums thunder in, steady and confident, like tires hugging the pavement on a midnight drive. Then comes the husky and utterly magnetic voice singing out his grain, full of smugness, confidence, and sexiness. The lead vocalist delivers each line like heโs been there, done that, and still smells like engine grease and rebellion. By the time he belts out the chorus at full throttle, youโre halfway imagining yourself out the door chasing your own wild freedom, pushing all the restraint in your bones out of your body.
The bridge doesnโt let up either. Instead, it throws you into a winding, slithering guitar solo that practically leaves a trail of dust behind. You can almost see the headlights slicing through the dusk as the solo wraps back into the final chorus, tying the whole thing together like a leather jacket to a biker.
According to guitarist Eng Wei Chua, the song is about โchasing something real and not waiting around for permission.โ
โOpen Roadโ is that perfect mix of guts and groove. Listen to it with the windows down and your soul aimed toward the horizon. Oh, and check out the infectious music video on YouTube, and watch Penny Rebels play it out before your eyes.
