Own World by Rose Rutledge: Review
Rose Rutledge brings the soul of jazz and evocative vocals to her song “Own World.” Her musical style is a combination of grace and finesse. This comes from the elegance of the flute and her commanding voice on the track. Also, a thrilling bassline keeps the song at a lovely pace, all the while dramatic pianos cover the track’s rhythm, and it’s very intriguing to take in.
The flute is such an underrated instrument in jazz; at least that’s how I feel about it. Its clean cadence and tone are quite soothing to hear and add a pleasant twist to any melody. Thus, it moved me to hear Rose’s performance on “Own World.” How she playfully executed each passage with the flute and sang alongside its tune was fascinating to hear. The melodic equilibrium between the instruments and her voice was on point, and it’s a clear indicator of a veteran musician and producer. That being said, the song’s allure is easy listening for anyone new to jazz or non-jazz fans alike. It brings the roots of music to the forefront and expresses itself as a piece worth hearing from start to finish.
“Own World” is a beautiful track filled with serene jazz timbres. The creativity of this tune is quite promising, and this is especially because of each instrument’s chemistry and execution. That being said, I hope you’ll enjoy Rose Rutledge’s song as much as I did, folks!
