On Paris Novella (Fortune Teller): All Predictions Act Like Curses, DreamGood turns that question into a wonderfully offbeat sonic adventure. Released on August 10, 2026, this concept album finds the Australian cinematic art-pop trio stepping into the curious world of fortune-telling, using its mysterious figurehead, Paris Novella, to explore desire, identity, fear, and the strange business of being alive. Across a kaleidoscope of electronic textures, synth-pop hooks, experimental hip-hop, funk, and dreamy balladry, the band makes room for both the dance floor and the existential crisis.
The album wastes little time making an entrance. “Spaceman” arrives with an explosive art-pop swagger, hypnotic rhythms, and unapologetically theatrical energy, while “Looking for Love” slips into a softer, funk-inflected groove, capturing the absurdity of chasing romantic ideals. “All the Animals” brings a more vulnerable perspective. Its blend of soul and alt-country gives the record a tender, bruised heart, acknowledging the beauty and brutality of survival without sugar-coating either. DreamGood are at their most compelling when these contrasting moods rub shoulders.
Of course, Paris Novella wouldn’t be much of a fortune teller without a few tricks up their sleeve. Then there’s “Sex and Support,” a seductive soft-funk number that nods toward the sensual confidence of Prince, Madonna, and George Michael. The singer sings sensationally with a tightened lower range that reeks of desire and sensation, with that sharp sibilance that emphasizes the title sensuously.
With Mitchell Sloan, Joshua Heath, and Glenn Heath blending poetic songwriting with immersive electronic production, Paris Novella thrives on unpredictability. “Kings” builds its theatrical energy to increasingly extravagant heights, while “Illuminate” transforms its fascination with perfection into a restless, danceable electronic groove. Not every turn needs to offer a tidy answer; the album’s appeal lies in its willingness to follow a strange idea wherever it leads. DreamGood have created a vivid, eccentric pop universe where high heels meet hi-vis, the future remains gloriously uncertain, and every prediction comes with a catch. Sometimes the best way to face destiny is to dance straight into it.
