Psycho Chemistry by Energy Whores: Review
“Psycho Chemistry” was released in 2022 as a single. It has a vibe of 70s disco songs. Carrie Schoenfeld is the singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, and Attilio Valenti is the guitarist of the band. Energy Whores create music that is truly one of a kind, mixing a variety of musical styles and genres into each song. Their influences are Bob Dylan, Rage Against The Machine, and Phil Ochs, their songs talk about political issues and more.
The beat of the song is in the style of fast-paced techno, and it is followed by a riff played on a guitar and leads played on a synth. The incredible chord progression and drum beat in the intro create a mood that is very similar to 1970s disco tracks. The song changes its vibe to a groovy sound once Carrie’s powerful vocals begin to play. The chorus is very interesting, and the heavy bass synth that supports the vocals makes the hook more catchy. The song has different harmonies, and it also has an addictive drum beat that will have you grooving up the dance floor.
The song “Psycho chemistry” talks about some difficult topics, including the authoritarianism of world leaders and their insatiable desire for power. All over, it is a very groovy and soulful track with a unique perspective on the 70s disco sound.
