Rock out to The Kid and I’s energetic new single “Free Falling”
Jacob Powell formed The Kid and I in 2020 as a solo project during the COVID lockdown. Having created songs for years, Jacob was able to refine his sound throughout this period. The Kid and I are an emerging formidable force to contend with, having recently been finalists in the Roundhouse Unsigned competition, opening for The Animals, receiving broadcasts on radio stations such as Amazing Radio and Islington Radio, and cutting their teeth on the London music scene.
The frontman Jacob had some interesting insight on the track “The concept behind this song was to create something that was relentless from beginning to end, where the drums never stop playing and you’re taken on a wild ride. I also wanted to produce something that was relatively simple musically but allowed the energy to persist across the entire track, gradually rising and culminating in an explosion of tension”. He released music throughout 2020, and 2021, but “Free Falling” in particular was recorded and produced in early 2022.
“Free Falling” is a gritty punk rock/alternative rock track that will blast through your speakers faster than you can say “dope”. And the track is so dope indeed! With the powerful bass line acting as a charging steed in the midst of battle, and the vocal-guitar combination that just oozes attitude. The drum work is absolutely top-notch, this is where the song’s true energy rises and captures the listeners. Jacob’s rhythmic vocal range in the track blended with the catchy guitar riffs will make listeners scream “more, more”. You could totally see audiences chanting to the band’s performance.
