Electronic music innovator DJ Pöschi opens the new year with Romantic Rock Vol 1, an EP released on January 1, 2026, that leans hard into emotion-driven instrumental storytelling. With electronic foundations alongside symphonic and orchestral flourishes, DJ Pöschi delivers a project designed less for the dancefloor and more for listeners who like their music cinematic, reflective, and a little larger than life. It’s a significant moment for the artist, who has returned to full creative momentum after overcoming major personal and technical setbacks, rediscovering his spark through modern tools and a renewed sense of freedom in sound.
Rooted in decades of experience, stretching back to experimenting with electronic organs in the late ’80s, Romantic Rock Vol 1 is a culmination. Influences from Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Kitaro, Pink Floyd, Queen, and Procol Harum ripple through the EP, as DJ Pöschi lets each composition dictate its own shape, spotlighting different instruments as needed, from sweeping strings to grounded piano lines and driving percussion.
The EP opens with “Cosmic Dust,” which slowly fades in on warm, expansive orchestral tones before strings begin to coil and twist, building tension with sharp turns. Soon, pounding drums and grinding guitars crash into the mix, creating a dark, suspenseful undercurrent. A passionate male vocal soars above the instrumentation, injecting the track with urgency and drama, like a sci-fi epic unfolding in real time.
Later, “Eternal Flame” shifts gears entirely, opting for restraint and tenderness. A melancholic piano sets the mood as a female vocalist sings with aching vulnerability. A choir gently enters, sounding almost like a comforting presence, refraining, “You are my eternal flame.” Soft, heartbeat-like drums keep time before a male vocal joins in, forming a delicate, vulnerable and passionate duet.
With its emotional range and handcrafted feel, Romantic Rock Vol 1 positions DJ Pöschi firmly in his most expressive chapter yet.
