Sage of New England Release Groovy Indie-Folk Song “Racunga”
Singer/songwriter Matthew Hayes Jacobs and producer Justin Tracy make up the band Sage of New England. Their sound is a lovely take on the Indie-Folk genre, especially when it comes to clean acoustic tones that have a vibing melody going.
At times I feel as though the acoustic guitar is an underrated instrument in pop music. There’s something fascinating when clean chords mix with a passionate voice or a funky bassline. There’s an aura of dance or thrill about it that are often times even better than its electric counterpart. This is the gripping nature of “Racunga”, where a solid resonance forms with synths, acoustic bits, and a calming voice. The song was written by the artist 12 years ago when he was having a tough time with their mental health. As a means of pulling himself out of the depths of despair, he composed this spiritual track to inspire us to keep going through the hard times with courage and perseverance. Aside from the core message, it’s an indie-folk tune overflowing alongside a jazzy rhythm, and a bluesy solo to keep us hooked.
“Racunga” was released on March 10th, and is the 5th single of the upcoming EP “Encounter” due to be launched next month! Pretty exciting stuff folks. The song centers around a mythical spirit and encourages us to cultivate more kindness, empathy, and a thirst for adventure within ourselves. So that those who hear it can be cured and go on to help others. This tune serves as a call to action to embrace every moment of life.
