Sea of Sin by Tears Apart: Review
Following the success of their self-titled debut album, Tears Apart portrays passion, devotion, hope, and heartache of everyday life with their sophomore album, LOVE. Evoking affection and charm in both the lyrics and the tune, the opening track of the album, ‘Sea of Sin’ will set your heart on fire.
Hailing from Turku, Finland, the four-piece band’s music is the embodiment of modern Soul. ‘Sea of Sin’ is no different. Mixing the nostalgic 60s sound with a modern pop twist, Tears Apart sets the tone for the rest of the album with the track. The twangy, gritty guitar melodies lay the way for Lotta Svartsjö’s smooth seductive vocals to take the stage and as the song progresses and the melodies intertwine to create an immersive tune that completely takes you in. One might hear some subtle Nordic melodies mixed with RnB grooves that add colors to the track.
Quotable Lyrics:
“Fill me with your love
Don’t hide anything
Preacher of lust
Are you kinky or not”
An album named LOVE could not ask for a better opening than this. The lyrics are full of passion, love, lust, and desire to set the tone for the rest of the album. Lotta Svartsjö does not shy away from matching the lyrics’ seductive energy with her smooth dynamic vocals. Backed by the rhythm section the guitars deliver an equally electrifying performance, especially the guitar solo. An alluring opening that intrigues the listener to check out the rest of the album.
