Seashells by Ljug Aldrig: Review
โSeashellsโ by Ljug Aldrig (Roosen) was recently released as a single. His band consists of guitarist Anton Toorell, singers Roosen and Ellinor Olovsdotter, and on strings, a Hanna Ekstrom cover by Absalon. Roosen is a visual artist, singer, and songwriter. The bandโs influences are Iceage, Roy Orbison, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. โSeashellsโ was recorded and produced by WDL (Johan Wedel). It was written in 2007 and it is an explanation of the need to create, which seems to be more powerful than the need to grow. One side of the argument maintains that beautiful things tend to attract more people.
The song starts with a small synth sound, then comes the male vocals along with the female vocas harmonizing with each other. The sweet sound of an acoustic guitar plays in the background. The male vocal resembles Chris Martin from Coldplay, but he has his own unique chops. Altogether, both the male and female vocals go hand in hand. The harmony, the chemistry between them is magical. Containing only two vocals and two acoustic guitars for most of the song, where in one the rhythm is playing, and in another little solos and fillers are playing, and in the end, a few other instruments get added to it, the song demonstrates how less can be more in terms of music. It is a very mellow and dreamy track with amazing vocal works and a soothing arrangement.
