Second phase by Perttu Leinonen: Album Review
The spiritual sound of Perttu Leinonen’s music is astounding to hear and is a blend of electronica and deep poetry. Entitled “Second phase”, this intriguing record takes a unique path in making melodies, like its cinematic and storytelling stance. Each track has spoken word pieces that tag along with effects, synths, and drone sequences as well.
Folks set aside about an hour from your daily grind, and let the meditative flow of “Second phase” immerse you. The album is a fascinating collection of songs that take you on a memorable trip. For instance, the tune “Soaring to invisible heights” draws you in with its melodic soul. It arises from celestial and space-like synths, a bassline, and most notably a passionate poet at the mic. Other tracks such as “In the valley where memories roam” pertain to a ride through one’s consciousness. The essence of this tune has a cinematic thrill, and the narrative is rich. This is heightened by the vocalist’s deep voice, which blends excellently with the ethereal synth sounds.
Along with Perttu Leinonen, Wiser Observer, Nelson Nkhata, Llany Arias, Blessynkure and Duniq join the cadence of the album. Together, everyone contributes to the core of the record, and it’s a joy to hear from start to finish. Each artist has an energy that mixes alongside the rhythm and forms a solid melody. Altogether, “Second phase” is a terrific album for fans who enjoy spoken word music with a spiritual edge.
