Heavenly Faded is an alternative dream rock band from the New York City music scene. The band’s four members are vocalists and guitarists Luis Payero and Jake Stamoulis, bassist Rikl van Zanten, and drummer Jared Pease. As a unit, they have been guiding listeners into their magnificent soundscape since 2018. It gives us great pleasure to introduce you to their latest track, “Severe Clear.”
The lyrics make a pun on the idea that there is peace just before a violent storm by placing it in the context of a relationship that is in turmoil. Ignoring issues in the hopes that they will go away is a lousy coping mechanism. But the things you brush under the carpet don’t just go away; they build up, and the situation quickly becomes out of hand. The song’s tempo is also ramped up to symbolize the sky turning into a furious storm. It’s interesting to note that the song’s most stripped-down segment comes before the climax. Indeed, the sky is clearest before the storm arrives. The echo effects enhance the hazy, dreamy vocals even more.
Quotable lyrics:
“Not much I could say to
Keep the storm from raging
Stop the storm from raging, in my mind
I don’t owe you anything at all
I just gave you my everything”
Aside from “Severe Clear,” the band released two other songs in 2022: “Good for Nothing” and “Midnight Sun.” They have proved that we can always count on them to have a good time.
