Seßler / Zeeb’s “Soul Free,” released on March 13, 2026, is a progressive rock track that does not need to shout to make its point. The southern German duo, songwriter and lead vocalist Kurt Seßler alongside multi-instrumentalist and producer Werner Zeeb, has been steadily shaping a sound that pulls from rock, pop, and prog. That balance works in the song’s favor.
“Soul Free” feels purposeful, melodic, and emotionally alert, built by musicians who know how to let atmosphere and structure pull in the same direction. It is a song about inner freedom and personal release. It keeps one foot on the ground while the other pushes toward something bigger.
From the outset, “Soul Free” comes alive with a vibrant, playful melody that gives the track immediate lift. Thumping drums keep the momentum steady and full-bodied, while melodic guitars thread through the arrangement with both warmth and precision. There is a real sense of movement here, as though the song is constantly trying to break through its own walls. That suits its theme perfectly. Seßler’s raspy high voice adds tension and personality right away, when he sings tightly, almost as if he is holding something in while also trying to force it out. That vocal edge gives the track emotional bite, especially as the arrangement gradually opens up and grows more intense.
And that is where “Soul Free” really earns its stripes. Rather than relying on one big chorus and calling it a day, it evolves in stages, leaning into dynamic structural shifts that keep the ear engaged. The bridge, in particular, adds a lovely twist, as another voice enters more tenderly and lightly, softening the mood for a moment and giving the song a needed breath before it gathers itself again. That contrast lands beautifully, like a crack of daylight in an otherwise stormy sky.
All in all, “Soul Free” is thoughtful, tuneful, and emotionally well-built. It carries progressive rock instincts, and that, frankly, is half the battle.
