Still You by Retrograde Conversations: EP Review
“Still You” is a fantastic indietronica EP by Retrograde Conversations. If you enjoy the thrill of electronic music, with an interesting contemporary sound, then this record is for you folks. Each track has an intriguing narrative with a calming melody attached to it. The rhythm sections have a nice ring to them, and the cadence is pretty comfortable to follow. You can hear all the songs on repeat, and trust me, it’ll be a memorable experience to take in.
Retrograde Conversations instill various aspects of electronica and instrumentation into their music. The opening song employs some ambient aspects, and it’s titled “Codeine Dreams/ Outro 3.” A dreamlike harmony covers the piece, where the synthesizers employ an ethereal tone. It has a pleasant aura about it, and moving on to the next number only raised my excitement. “Still You”, the title song of the EP is just stellar. The vocals are just the right amount of balance and have a lovely synergy with the rest of the instrumentation. A deep bassline follows the singer, then the keyboards align alongside the tune. Overall, the chemistry is brilliant and hooks you in from the very start.
The ending track of the EP “Jaded” has a delightful atmosphere, where the melodies follow this fancy LoFi soundscape. The vocals incorporate fast-paced mechanics, and it keeps up with the drone-like bass and swift percussions.
