SkyCall’s new single, “Stop Living With Closed Eyes,” is a high-energy rock anthem infused with powerful themes and gritty instrumentation. Created entirely by Fabrice Duval—psychiatrist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist—this track boasts intense, rebellious spirit with a message. Duval, who composed, arranged, and performed every instrument himself, gives listeners an old-school rock vibe wrapped in socially conscious lyrics, with Alexandros Chrysidis mastering the final product at Sierra Studios in Athens, Greece.
“Stop Living With Closed Eyes” opens with Duval’s guitar shredding into a catchy, punchy rhythm, supported by splashy cymbals that add a dose of adrenaline. Duval’s vocal style is a standout; his accent and intonation trail with attitude, giving the song a fresh yet nostalgic feel. His voice soars airily over the energetic riffs, and his hooky, melodic lines create an engaging narrative vibe that’s hard to resist. The mix of his high vocal tone with the roaring guitar and steady drums provides a balance between raw rock energy and focused musicality.
Inspired by Gandhi’s notion that “if the power of love could replace the love of power, humanity would have accomplished its revolution,” “Stop Living With Closed Eyes” reflects on society’s deep-rooted struggles with capitalism and materialism. Duval’s lyrics encourage listeners to reject control, embrace free will, and pursue inner peace, challenging the world’s obsession with money over spiritual values. This message is reinforced by the song’s fiery energy, which feels like a call to arms against complacency.
Since SkyCall’s 2023 split, Duval has been finalizing an LP comprising nine tracks, “Stop Living With Closed Eyes” being the fourth single. Available on streaming platforms via CD Baby, check it out now.
