Stray Honey by The Loud Bangs: EP Review
Eccentric rock band The Loud Bangs brings forth a fresh EP entitled “Stray Honey.” Their vast sound pertains to the shoegaze genre mostly, along with alternative rock, pop, and a bit of psychedelia too. Overall, The Loud Bangs make a solid impression and their music will resonate with the deepest corners of your soul.
The EP opens up with the explosivity of “Electroprize.” It’s a tough-as-nails alternative rock track involving grunge guitars and feisty drumming. Aside from that, avant-garde vocals are active with effects tagging along. Next up is the song “Sex Complex,” which gained the most attention on the EP, pretty impressive! It’s got a charming vibe where shoegaze pop is explored. The melodic structure involves jangly guitars with a psychedelic tone and a calming singer at the mic. The track’s layers have plenty of reverb and echo, making it a trippy experience to hear from start to finish.
“We All Want to Be All Right” is musical escapism at its finest. It’s a lovely ambient track with a polished musical essence. It involves a bit of folk, such as the acoustic guitar’s inclusion. Furthermore, the vocals and basslines had an atmospheric flow that was relaxing to hear. The Loud Bangs show their energetic edge in “This Is a Japanese Robot” which is a full-blown indie rock track with bustling guitars and upbeat percussions. “Bell Gardens,” the last song, is a fitting conclusion where the facets of shoegaze return, albeit with a slight electronica twist.
