The layers of synths in the indie-pop song โStreamโ blend seamlessly, building a rich, full sound that carries the listener away. The smooth, flowing melody creates an ambiance of relaxation and tranquility, almost like floating down a gentle stream. Yet, the dramatism and cinematic imagery brought with the classic blues sounds, guitars, the compressed drums, and centered bassline, and Joelโs alluring voice create a perfectly suspenseful theme, fit for mystery drama.
Rivendell says, โSome art is best left unexplained. It can allow an audience the opportunity to draw their own conclusions, perchance to find something personal or meaningful to them in the lyrics, themes or mood of the song.โ
He wants the listener to venture out into their fields of imagination without giving them a firm description of what he considers the music to be about. We know the best of art is in conveying it in multiple ways, adding to the stream of thought, after all.
