Summer In The Morning by Rob Lea: Review
Rob Lea, lead singer of one of the most popular Queen tribute bands, Majesty, is branching out into a solo career. Following the success of his debut track “Reflections,” he introduced us to his latest tune, “Summer In The Morning.”
In addition to the soothing strums of an acoustic guitar, the song’s opening whistles and angelic harmonies immediately set a bright and joyful tone. Lea has been touring Europe and performing live on stage for over 10 years, and his charm is not to be underestimated. He is in command of the scene, effortlessly drawing listeners into the soundscape he built, from the dreamy head voice to the warm, soulful chest voice, with many layered vocals in the background.
Quotable lyrics:
“Summer in the morning
I’ve been looking forward to this day
Summer in the morning
Finally allowed to go and play
And I’ll be waiting for you
Been waiting all my life to hear you say
Summer in the morning
I’ll see you in the morning”
The aggressive drum kick and melodious bass grow in intensity before dropping into a catchy, head-bopping chorus that has everyone moving in their seats. It makes me long for a weekend at the beach and its bright, carefree atmosphere. Lea intends to write a song that would inspire his listeners to sing at the top of their lungs, dance and have a good time, and he succeeds admirably in this endeavor.
