French artist Julandjim brings nostalgic euphoria and DIY innovation together on his debut single โThe 90โs, Evaporated,โ released October 10, 2025. Straight out of Bordeaux, this bedroom producer crafts a sonic time capsule that pays homage to the golden era of French touch and big beat, channeling the spirit of Daft Punk, Air, The Prodigy, and Outkast. With nothing but an old synth, a classical Spanish guitar, and help from a few close friends, Julandjim turns his apartment into a playground of vintage tones and modern pulse, producing a retro-futuristic and irresistibly danceable track. Recorded high above the city, the song captures that hazy, electric feeling of a late-night party that never quite ends.
โThe 90โs, Evaporatedโ opens with immersive, glimmering synths before a thumping rhythm section kicks in, layered with crisp beats, record scratches, and warped vocal effects. The rapper enters smoothly, playful and confident, riding the groove with cool precision. His flow dances between humor and swagger, pulling listeners straight onto the dance floor. As the rhythm builds, sultry female vocals drift in and out, looping hypnotically like echoes from a club basement. Her voice refrains on some lines, sensual, detached, and intoxicating. Then, a calm male voice slips in, delivering a spoken-word passage over her fading harmony, grounding the dynamism with a static, effortless cool.
Soon after, the track bursts into its signature โeditโ refrainโa hypnotic, hard-hitting section that spins like a strobe light in sound form. The pounding cymbals, jittery synths, and relentless pace create a trance-like energy thatโs pure, sweaty exhilaration. Finally, everything dissolves into a gentle fade of soothing ambient tones โ the partyโs last exhale before dawn.
With the idiosyncratic, eccentric and flawlessly original โThe 90โs, Evaporated,โ Julandjim revives the nostalgia with flair, turning memory into movement and mood into music you canโt get quite enough of.
