The Eighty Six Seas released catchy new song ‘I Need My Girl (feat. Elly Kace & Straight Pepper Diet)’
‘I Need My Girl’, a cover of The National’s iconic 2013 song, is the latest single from independent pop artist The Eighty Six Seas (aka Nick Stevens). The single represents a further development of The Eighty Six Seas’ sound by incorporating electronic and EDM elements while maintaining the indie-folk characteristics of Stevens’ earlier work. Elly Kace, a gifted singer-artist, and Straight Pepper Diet, Stevens’ bandmate and producer, both make appearances on the song as special guests (aka David Anthony). Alex Solano did the mixing, mastering, and immersive mix.
If you’ve ever attended an Eighty Six Seas solo performance, you can almost certainly count on I Need My Girl to be included in the set list, according to Stevens. “Since hearing The National perform an acoustic version at a Q Radio YouTube concert in 2012, it has been ingrained in my DNA. ‘I Need My Girl’ is currently streamable and for sale via Bandcamp. I jumped at the chance to record it for a Valentine’s Day (adjacent) single when the opportunity presented itself.”
