The Hu make a comeback with the tune This Is Mongol and a stunning desert video. Hu! Hu! Hu! The Hu have released a new video in which they promise “positivity, empowerment, and strength to fight for better days.”
The Hu, the Mongolian phenomenon, have released a new tune called This Is Mongol. The song is the first single from the band’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled second album, which will follow up to their critically praised debut The Gereg from 2019.
The song is backed with a video shot by John Connor Hammond in Nevada’s Mojave Desert, in which the band members race around on quad bikes before performing the song in front of a series of strange black monoliths.
“The environment reminded us of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert,” Hu frontman Jaya explains. “We had a good time making the video; it happened during our tour and provided us a chance to reflect on home.” The music was a fantastic complement for the setting in which we shot the video.”
“We’re announcing our entrance through music, specifically through this song,” producer Dasha adds. I believe we are delivering happiness, empowerment, and strength to fight for brighter days in these uncertain times.”
The lyrics of This Is Mongol, like those of past Hu albums, emphasize the band’s deep ties to Mongolian environment, culture, and spirituality.
With hazy mountains of magnificence
May the fortune of the Mongol thrive and prosper
The Black Banner of our ancestors will awaken us
Blessed with destiny and bounty
May the Mongols live in blissfulness for eternity
Glory of our ancestors shields us
This is the Mongol
The Hu are presently on their Black Thunder Tour across the United States, and will join Megadeth, Five Finger Death Punch, and Fire From The Gods on a long run of arena shows in August.
“We grew up listening to Megadeth and can’t describe how much they’ve inspired and pushed us to perform what we love every day,” says Enkush, who sings and plays the morin khuur (horse head violin) in The Hu. “Everyone knows Megadeth is one of the four major thrash metal pioneers, and to share the stage with a modern band like Five Finger Death Punch will be iconic.”
“We will bring our A-game on this tour, even though it will be our first time performing with them.”
