Indie pop-rock artist HOLMES releases his 5-track EP, โThe Wait.โ The EP shows how love and lust merge and confuse lovers and pull them back to each other. Meanwhile, their love for each other makes them make bad decisions. The artist expresses his story with his artistic and musical style through driven basslines, anthemic choruses and powerful melodies.
The EP kicks off with what seemed like the standout track to me: โIf It Was up to Me.โ HOLMES opens it with haunting lyrics, โhalf past 5, I am on your mind,โ delivered almost acapella, accompanied by distantly paced guitar. The drum propels the song forward, creating a catchy and racing pace.
The EP concludes with a remix of the opening track, surprising listeners with a cleaner version of HOLMESโ vocals. The newfound clarity is wondrous, allowing the artistโs voice to shine through with a pristine quality. The remix takes on a peaceful ambiance, with guitar riffs and piano keys enchanting and rippling through the song. Immersive waves hover in the air, pulling the listener into a cool embrace. This remix serves as a fitting conclusion and makes a circle with a different take and different mood on the same song.
Each song unfolds like a chapter in a love story and acts as the soundtrack to the tumultuous journey of the heart. โThe Waitโ EP pioneers the change in the artistโs soundโmeaning you will hear much different sound from the artist onwards. So stay tuned to the artistโs newest musical metamorphosis.
