The dark/pop/folk/prog solo acoustic artist and singer-songwriter David Benson, known by his moniker Said Sara releases “Then There You Are,” on June 28, 2024, showcases his distinctive style and emotive delivery, solidifying his place in the contemporary music scene. Debuting live last year in four nations, he has shown himself, a full-fledged creative.
“Then There You Are” opens with the steely strumming of acoustic guitars, setting a poignant and reflective tone. The strumming is crisp and clear, providing a solid foundation for the song’s emotive journey. As the track progresses, layers of guitars are added, creating a rich and immersive soundscape that envelops the listener.
Benson’s voice is a standout feature of the track. His high and youthful vocals are imbued with a rich and evocative vibrato that punctuates each word with a sense of longing and introspection. This distinctive delivery captures our attention and draws us into the song’s narrative. As his voice soars, it conveys a sense of struggle and pain, as if battling through emotional barricades. The brief addition of jittery percussion in the bridge adds an element of urgency and emphasis to the track, highlighting its emotional depth.
Grown up with the songwriting stars of the ’70s, combined with metal and punk, Said Sara has quite an extensive taste. Speaking of metal, you got to stay tuned, because he is following his Theothanatology album soon with Acephalix.
