Australian alternative rock project Highroad No. 28 continues its creative rebirth with โThistroubledsoul,โ the second single paving the way toward the upcoming album The Will to Endure. Released November 28, 2025, via The Orchard (Sony Music), the track strikes closer to the heart than ever before, confronting the emotional weight we carry when no one is looking.
Frontman Andrew JC now stands entirely at the helm, performing every instrument and vocal ahead of the bandโs new live lineup arriving in 2026. That solo intensity translates directly into the music. Recorded at Melbourneโs iconic Sing Sing Recording Studios and mixed by rising producer James Taplin, the single leans deeper into cinematic darkness while still embracing Highroad No. 28โs melodic punch.
The song opens with sharp, driving guitars cutting through the silence before heavy, thumping drums kick the door open. Quickly, those guitars bloom into atmospheric, broad, immersive, and slightly haunted layers, shaping a world where the fight is happening inside the mind rather than out in the streets. Then the nasal and tender voice comes, trembling at the edges, as if the words are balancing the line between strength and breaking.
โSheโs back again, and I am down so low,โ he sings, summing up the whole crisis of being ruined mentally by a toxic relationship.
As the chorus rises, the track becomes a collision of melody and pressure, like stumbling through the dark toward a light youโre not sure you deserve. The guitars swell wider, the drums grow heavier, and the emotional temperature spikes, but the vulnerability never disappears under the noise.
โThistroubledsoulโ is about enduring the battle, blood pumping, heart shaking, but still moving forward.
