Perth-based band For Old Time’s Sake returns with their latest original single, “Together,” released April 30, 2025. After years of home recordings and a cross-continental collaboration on their fifth album, Bridging the Gap, this track marks a turning point with their first time recording in a proper studio. Rooted in their Beatles-inspired folk/pop sensibility, “Together” comes as nostalgic and forward-looking, embodying the band’s long-standing camaraderie and nearly two decades of creative history. With Darwin D. Dacanay on vocals and Whet Crisostomo on guitar, joined by Jonathan Peria, Vanie Cubero, and Joel Cacao, For Old Time’s Sake garners all the memory, reflection, and renewed energy in one song.
“Together” opens with fuzzy, chiming guitars that churn steadily over paced beats, creating a warm but slightly wistful atmosphere. Darwin’s voice is calm and introspective, carrying the weight of years gone by without losing a gentle optimism. His delivery is understated and conversational, yet it rings with sincerity, inviting the listener into a shared reflection. The production balances clarity with a touch of grit, keeping the band’s homemade intimacy alive even in a studio-polished setting.
When the guitar solo arrives, it flutters with passion, shimmering and melodic, almost like a voice of its own, weaving through the fabric of memory. It rises and falls with emotion, with that semblance of enduring connection despite time, distance, and change. This song acknowledges that bonds built over years don’t fray easily—they evolve, they adapt, but they remain.
In the end, “Together” is a heartfelt reflection wrapped in jangling guitars and timeless pop sensibility. It’s wistful, yes, but also affirming, carrying the glow of old friendships rekindled through music.
