Triumph by Akuvi: Review
“Triumph” is an empowering track by Akuvi, a lovely singer with an essence of soul music and Afrobeat. The song has incredible vocal layers where everything from chanting to slight rapping, and singing are on display. As for the instrumental parts of this fascinating tune, it’s a powerful mix of synths and African-style percussions.
Hearing Akuvi’s astounding number made me recall the FIFA World Cup from last year, and also South Africa’s hosting in 2010. My God, “Triumph” would have been the perfect fit for that tournament. You wanna know why? Well, just give this melody a listen folks, its energy and sensation coming will charge you right up. The hype from this bomb track is unreal, especially its vocal chants and beat drops. Let’s talk about the first aspect a bit here. Well, imagine Wakandan warriors from Black Panther, and their voices in unison. Add more melody to it, and you’ve got the anthem of “Triumph.” It’s easily the highlight of Akuvi’s song, along with her voice which is a combination of uplifting pop and classic afrobeat. Speaking of which, I’ve acquired a new-found taste in the genre, I mean who wouldn’t after hearing this tune right?
It elates me to witness the rise of so many genres in the music biz. There’s not a single doubt in my mind that genres such as afrobeat are in the major leagues now. Akuvi is the perfect artist to represent that notion, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
