Kevin Honoldโs newest single, โTwo Lovers in the Summer,โ arrives September 19, 2025, as a follow-up to his debut album, The Forge. Written in late summer 2023, during the threshold moment when his relationship with Tina shifted from dating into shared responsibilities and cultural crossroads, the song embodies the tension of joy laced with change. Recorded with a full ensemble and co-produced with Pat Noon, it blends Honoldโs signature โrhythmic rockโ with cinematic layers that rise and fall like waves against the shore.
It kicks off gently, with gentle acoustic strums and soft, shaky percussion, Honoldโs husky tenor slipping in gently. Thereโs contentment in that opening delivery, a sense of savoring what still feels new. Honold sings, โTwo lovers in the summer, heading on to the fall,โ where he utilizes the turning of the weather like the metaphorical cooling of the honeymoon phase. But then the rich and grounding strings swell in to push through the sincerity, and the chorus rushes up with a lift of exhilaration.
As the track builds, Moe McGowanโs harmonies arrive like sunlight breaking cloud cover, angelic and soothing against the grain of Honoldโs voice. Later, horns surge in with their thickness and weight, the sound of love crashing against doubt. He sings, โThe hurricane is coming, about to make landfall,โ illustrating the storms that come with romance, but then again, he admits that life itself is a โbrawl,โ so he stays resilient.
