Tybah by Tha Building: Review

When listening to โTybahโ by Tha Building, one is taken on an enlightening trip with the protagonist of the song, who is exhausted from putting up with someone for a long time and finally snaps. Their first full-length, โOutside Ourselvesโ, is a thrilling journey through indie-funk, hip-hop, classic soul from Motown and Stax, R&B balladry, and polished jazz-pop. The artistโs skill at fusing many musical styles into a coherent whole is on full display in this funk-infused, soulful tune.
The soundtrackโs vibe is established right away by the songโs funky bassline and steady drumming. The silky vocals of the lead vocalist bring the whole thing together, and the addition of brass and keys gives depth and complexity to the song. Lyrically, the song explores themes of self-improvement and self-discovery. The most striking aspect of โTybahโ is how Tha Building manages to inject its distinctive sound and style into a time-honored musical genre like funk. All the good parts of funk, soul, and R&B are there, but they add their contemporary spin to create a sound that will have you up and dancing from the first note to the last.
I think everyone will agree that โTybahโ is a great example of what Tha Building can do as a collective. When compared to the rest of the music business, they stand out because of their outstanding ability to merge many genres into one consistent sound. Theyโve shown themselves with โOutside Ourselvesโ to be a funk/soul/rock band worth keeping an eye on, and โTybahโ is a prime example of this.
