Transparent-Cโs new album Unapologetic is a bold, soul-baring ride through trauma, growth, and defiant self-love, stitched together with genre-blending finesse and lyrical clarity. Hailing from Long Beach and now based in Ontario, California, this multi-instrumentalist channels jazz, soul, and hip-hop into a personal manifesto, giving listeners a chance to be seen and heard. Unapologetic is out to connect on a raw, reflective, and healing level.
The opener, โSurrender,โ is a cinematic storm of emotion. It begins with static radio noise and a piano line slowly climbing like a heartbeat finding its rhythm. Thunder sounds echo beneath soaring choir-like vocals that haunt the backdrop, lifting the track into spiritual territory. Transparent-C enters with a deep, steady voice, spoken-word style, with a tension, like heโs on the edge of breaking through. When the beat drops, sparkly synths strike and settle into a groove that makes you nod along, even as the lyrics tug at places you didnโt expect.
โRelease,โ track four, drifts in quietly but hits hard in sentiment. The mood is pensive, the piano slow and heavy, with rustling beats that feel like wind brushing past old memories. He vents without raising his voice, recounting emotional neglect, calling out emotional double standards, and advocating for menโs mental health. The sharp vulnerability in the delivery is more confessional than confrontational, and all the more powerful for it.
The album closes with โElevators,โ a confident, low-slung banger where Transparent-C raps in a cool, breathless flow that rides the beat effortlessly. With distorted, muffled sensual refrains weaving through the background, itโs a groovy, triumphant goodbye where he declares his place unapologetically.
